Research Project “Rechtliche Herausforderungen chinesischer Investitionen in Deutschland“

Chinese investments in Germany have been a growing phenomenon for about ten years, which is also due to the Chinese government's targeted promotion of such projects. Legal challenges for these investment projects arise from various directions. Problems arise from both Chinese and German Law. The goal of the research project was to systematically address and analyze these problems from a legal perspective. As part of the project, more than 20 interlocutors from companies and business law firms throughout Germany were interviewed about the specific challenges.

Exchange project „Die deutsche juristische Methodenlehre und ihre Rezeption und Umsetzung in der VR China“

The exchange project „Die deutsche juristische Methodenlehre und ihre Rezeption und Umsetzung in der VR China“ was established in October 2013 by the law faculties of the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg and Qingshua University in Beijing. It was sponsored by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and by the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC).

The goal of the project was to investigate the reception of German legal methodology in China, which also included discussions in Japan, Korea and Taiwan in order to understand it. Among other things, it provided answers to the questions of how law is applied by judges in China, Japan, and Korea, whether legal methodology plays a role in legal education and research, and the role of methodological discussions in East Asian legal scholarship.
