The Chair of International Economic Law with special focus on East Asia was established in February of 2007. So far, it is the only chair of jurisprudence at a German university dedicated to East Asian and specifically to Chinese law. Its establishment follows naturally from the Albert-Ludwigs-University’s traditional role and core competences as one of Germany’s leading universities in the field of international academic exchange. |

The chair will cooperate closely with the Department of Sinology and other departments at Freiburg University concerned with China in order to found a Centre for Chinese Studies. The Centre’s aim is to become a centre of interdisciplinary research in East Asian culture, language, economy and law. |
